I was invited as a guest on the Starpower Podcast! (the Official Podcast of Scorehero.com) http://www.starpowerpodcast.com/2008/10/02/starpower-episode-19/ Also on that episode; Someguy913, HellAshes, Billtvshow, and Machchunk. (Drums discussion is from 33:00 to 55:00 of the podcast) I am using my Goodwood pads in this video. There is a piece of duct tape in the center of each pad to control the amount of vibration given off by the head, and in turn prevents pad misses and double hits. The tape makes the pads much louder than usual. But I actually prefer this, because the Goodwoods are incredibly quiet without it. I like being able to hear what I'm playing...not just hear it manifested inside the game. :) I am also using a new Roland KD-8 bass trigger, courtesy of the donations received from generous individuals in the Rock Band community. I hope to acquire a complete Roland V-drums kit soon, allowing me to expand to making bigger and better videos. Freestyle drum solos and tutorials anyone? hehe For more information on donations, and private drum lessons, check out my website: http://www.ibiteprettyhard.com Follow me on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/ibiteprettyhard

Laus Deo Semper. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cobus-Potgieter/18074843749 [www.cobuspotgieter.com] This is a drum cover of RJA's song, Face Down. AWESOME song, insane drumming, loved covering this, one of my all-time favorites. I have to emphasize, I know calling this a "cover" is wrong, seeing as I only PARTLY stayed true to the song's drums, through the WHOLE song i play some variations of the beats, phrasing and fills, I'm NOT aiming to be accurate to the original drums, I'm just aiming to enjoy myself.. :) And I thouroughly succeeded in doing that, I might add ;) Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down from the 2006 release Don't You Fake It is the copyrighted property of its owner. (External) Drums by Cobus Potgieter | jaapvlooi@gmail.com *TECHNICAL INFO* Drumkit: Tama Superstar Custom; in the Blue Metallic Fade Heads: Toms TOP: Remo Powerstroke 3, Clear. Toms BOTTOM: stock heads. Snare TOP: Remo Emperor, Coated. Snare BOTTOM: stock head. Bassdrum BATTER: Remo Powerstroke 4, Clear. Cymbals: Paiste PST 5 UNIVERSAL setup: 14" Hats 16" Crash 20" Ride Secondary Crash: Sabian XS20 Medium-Thin 16" Crash (please note the toms are tuned and equalized for RECORDING purposes, live they need to be tuned a lot more "open" to sound as good as in the recording. and yes, the kit DOES sound that good live :) i had almost NO equalising on the drums themselves, and ONLY removed some low frequencies from the overheads. basically i only levelled the mix and applied compression.) *RECORDING* I miced each individual drum (snare top AND bottom were miced), plus two overheads, ran this through a mixer, got a decent mix and recorded with ONLY *ONE* stereo channel.. no multitrack recorder(s) :) I compressed the final mix to HELL.. to get a more aggressive sound, to make it sit better in with the original song (and hopefully overpower the original drums), detailed compression settings: 20:1 with a threshold of -20db and a compensation gain of 15db, with both separate channels (LEFT and RIGHT, from the mixer) sent to a stereo sub-group, and the compression settings applied to THIS group, it gave a nice compact and aggressive result.. further mastering was needed to equalize the final mix and control peak levels and such, to have it fit in with the original music track.

Zach, the drummer for the band STS9, asked me to remix a song of theirs. His drums from "Beyond Right Now" ended up inspiring me to make a whole new tune. I'll update here when I know where/when it'll be available to download. I got a ton of emails from friends telling me to check these guys out so I was excited when they contacted me and I owe thanks to them for inspiring me to create this collab tune. They have some great jamz and interesting sounds. Check them out: http://www.sts9.com My Second album is still in the works - taking longer than I thought. Albums are tough when you're going about it by yourself. LOL. But so far so good. I'm truckin along and HOPING for a December digital release (unfortunately a physical CD will be available 6 weeks after I release the digital copy). you can download my first album here: http://www.ronaldjenkees.com/music-store

Since getting my new camera angle and capture setup working on my latest videos, this has been the #1 request by far: to redo TTFAF. I kinda wanted to do it anyway, because looking back at my old TTFAF vids, they're such poor video quality. I never get to see what my hands are doing either, so I wanted to see this video too! ;-) I think the reason people wanted to see this is to see more closely how I play it with drum sticks. So for some of the trickier sticking parts, I've slowed it down for a few bars and used a Kameo-esque "warrior focus" mode for added effect. I kinda like it. I only did it in parts that are repetitive so that you could also see it played at normal speed in other parts of the song. This will be my last TTFAF video. I love the song, but it's just too big a mountain to climb. It takes me a 1/2 hour of warm up just to be able to pass it. I practiced it for a couple hours earlier in the day just to try and get back to how good I was at it when I 5-star'd it ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=-RS6kwWklR4 ) and even so I couldn't quite reach 5 stars (missed it by a measly 5,000 points! If I'd 'a just hit some of those easy SP phrases in the solos, or just not botched the intro... ugh, I'm full of regret... ah well, I have to move on.) This was my 3rd take of the night and by the 4th one I could barely get through the intro. It's just so tiring! Sweat dripping off my face while I'm playing this. Seriously. But hey, it's a great workout! Thanks for watching yet another TTFAF video. I really appreciate my subscribers. You guys make it easy to ignore the haters. So I'm glad you like these videos. I enjoy making them. FAQ: ---- Q: How does it work? A: Everything is explained in detail here: http://egyokeo.com/midihero Q: How do you do 3-note chords? A: All "two adjacent note" power chords are mapped to the top 4 pads, so with two sticks I can play any 3-note chord except GYO. But I can get that with one stick in left hand and two fingers on right hand. Q: How do you do whammy and star power? A: I use a bass drum pedal on my right foot to activate star power, and a hi-hat pedal on my left foot to control whammy depth. Q: How do you hold notes? A: My MIDI Hero software has an auto-hold feature for every note hit because it's more natural for a drummer to play that way. It's not a good feeling to mash sticks into drum pads to hold notes. Q: Which video editor do you use? A: My earlier videos were made with Windows Movie Maker. My latest videos are made Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8. Q: How much does this cost? A: The drumKat is a pro-quality MIDI drum pad set. These days, they run about $1k but I bought my set years ago. I also use a PC to run my custom home-brew MIDI Hero software to interpret the drum events. Then the "XIM" and "XFPS" add another $100+. This is not made for the masses. This is a one-of-a-kind setup. Q: Do you play real drums? Are you in a band? A: Yes, I've been playing drums since 1986. I have been in various bands from Jazz to Ska over the years. Right now I'm in the Detroit-based ska band The Exceptions. Q: Is "MIDI Hero" available to the public? A: Yes, the details are on my website. .

I've taken my hyperactive editing style a step further! Hope you'll enjoy it! If you want to download the audio from this video, go to http://www11.nrk.no/urort/user/?id=36781 It's a norwegian page where I uploaded some of my music. (Lytt = Listen to, Last ned = Download) Oh shit, I forgot to put this in the video, and now it's too late to change it: Thanks to my friend Mattis for letting me borrow the drum kit. Also thanks to the person letting me use her piano, but she didn't want her name here :P And now; to you people saying I'm ripping off Michel Gondry: I've seen his video with the drumkit called "Drumb and Drumber". It's here on youtube somewhere. His video and my video are different because of one very important detail: Gondy filmed himself doing drumming sequences and LOOPED them, while I hit each drum and piano chord seperately and edited them together. This is a very big difference if you have any idea about video editing. Actually, there is a short sequence of 5 sec where he does cut the beat, but I didn't notice this until recently, which makes me an idiot. But I still don't think it's a rip off, only similar. SO one question to you guys: If I write a song which includes the words "love" and "tight", am I ripping off The Beatles?? :P I met Michel Gondry in Milan, Italy and asked him. He didn't really give me a clear answer, but it seemed like he thought so. Either that or he didn't like my clothes. Lol.

http://www.azuritereaction.com new website! For more information about the video, click to read "more". This song is just insane. My best is a good 10,000+ more than this, but yeah, much harder than it looks. The main difficulty comes in the fact that bass pedal hits are timed differently in RB2, as well as the notes being so scrunched together. (my gamertag = sskitzzo) The drumset i'm using is a "GoodWoods" set, a sturdy, quiet, responsive set with great rebound: you can get it at http://www.goodwoodmods.com/products.html I'm using the "Destroyer Pedal" in this video, which is great for zero double-hits, it's metal, and it's great for using heel-toe with. You can get it at http://www.rockbandpedal.net/ And yes, I play drums in real life, been playing them on and off for 4+ years. EDIT: If you look in the window, it is NOT a person: I have no idea how any of you could possibly see the plant right outside my window, in my backyard, which is closed off by a fence, as a person. I mean, don't you think i'd notice them in the window? :P The reason it's blowing around is because of the wind. Also, people have been accusing me of speeding this up. Think about how hard it would be to play a song slower than usual, and then speed it up, and have everything match up with the song: not to mention, the pitch of everything would be much higher in real life had i sped it up, not to mention obvious things such as my movements, etc. This video is not sped up, and it's kind of silly to think that I would actually resort to something like that in any of my videos. ========================= So, here it is. An actual Rock Band song, translated to drums, so to speak. The beginning is off time for some reason, but it syncs up soon thereafter. I screw up a few times, due to lack of practicing it on real drums: parts like where the red notes suddenly go from the hi-hat to the toms are a bit hard to time. Also, i took liberties on some parts of the song: I don't have two crash cymbals, so I had to hit the same one for when the blue and green are supposed to be seperate crashes, as well as hitting the snare during the 4x red, 4x yellow, 4x blue etc. rolls instead of a fourth tom which isn't on my set. The way I set this up was to let the song play out on practice mode, not hitting anything, and muting the drums in the options. (That's why the notechart shows me missing all the notes.) Then, i just spliced the audio together. I notice it's kind of hard to hear the bass pedal: however if you look at my leg, and the reflection of my foot on the floor tom, you can clearly see it going to the beat and hitting the pedal when it's supposed to; even if you can't hear it. Yes, the cymbals need to be loosened, however, the set was used when we bought it: the previous owners did not take care of it, and thus if you loosen it, sometimes the entire cymbal pops off. this is also why the drumset sounds like crap. The china cymbal was broken because of a neighbor abusing the set. The hi-hat pedal is also broken, which is why I can't lift it up to do the final hit on the patterns in the intro to the song. To contact me for whatever reason, E-mail me at azuritereactiondrums@yahoo.com since I don't read my youtube messages for the most part.

I FC'd it again! http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk296/IBitePrettyHard/ThePerfectDrugre-FC.jpg Not-so-impossible... 239,575 (1,893 Note Streak) The very first Expert drums FC of The Perfect Drug. It's listed under the "Impossible" tier as the second most difficult song in the game. This is probably the most complex drum chart I've seen to date. It throws everything at you but the kitchen sink. And the "window" of time given to play each note is very minuscule, meaning if I decided to loosen up my "feel" just a little...I'd instantly start missing notes. There is a lot of diversity from one section to the next, but it makes it fun to play. I really like the syncopation at 1:29, but I usually have to hold my breath all the way through. Some of the note patterns begin on the second 16th note...so you basically have to be the master of space and time, lol. I also love the sequence at 3:33. It has some pretty neat drum n' bass parts that you almost never see in acoustic music. Hey Harmonix...is that the best you got? lol jk GT: IBitePrettyHard and IBiteLegacy My live video feed: http://www.ibiteprettyhard.com Follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/ibiteprettyhard .

ALEXANDER THE GREAT-IRON MAIDEN MACEDONIA LYRICKS: My son ask for thyself another Kingdom, for that which I leave is too small for thee" (King Philip of Macedonia - 339 B.C.) Near to the east In a part of ancient Greece In an ancient land called Macedonia Was born a son To Philip of Macedon The legend his name was Alexander At the age of nineteen He became the Macedon King And he swore to free all of Asia Minor By the Aegian Sea In 334 B.C. He utterly beat the armies of Persia [Chorus:] Alexander the Great His name struck fear into hearts of men Alexander the Great Became a legend 'mongst mortal men King Darius the third Defeated fled Persia The Scythians fell by the river Jaxartes Then Egypt fell to the Macedon King as well And he founded the city called Alexandria By the Tigris river He met King Darius again And crushed him again in the battle of Arbela Entering Babylon And Susa, treasures he found Took Persepolis the capital of Persia [Chorus:] Alexander the Great His name struck fear into hearts of men Alexander the Great Became a God amongst mortal men A Phrygian King had bound a chariot yoke And Alexander cut the 'Gordian knot' And legend said that who untied the knot He would become the master of Asia Hellenism he spread far and wide The Macedonian learned mind Their culture was a western way of life He paved the way for Christianity Marching on, marching on The battle weary marching side by side Alexander's army line by line They wouldn't follow him to India Tired of the combat, pain and the glory Alexander the Great His name struck fear into hearts of men Alexander the Great He died of fever in Babylon
