Many Australians saw Schapelle Corby's human rights being trampled upon with their own eyes. They saw the nature of the show trial for themselves: the refusal to test the drugs for country of origin, the refusal to fingerprint, the judge who had never acquitted anyone, and subsequently even the burning of the evidence so that it could never be used to free her. They saw that her testimony and whole demeanor were clearly those of an innocent person, and in contrast they saw the shambolic pretence of judicial procedure in which evidence was simply an irritant and a deflection from the pre-ordained process. They then saw a vengeful and barbaric sentence of 20 YEARS awarded. 20 years in conditions barely imaginable. This was visible and open to all. The cat was out of the bag. But for the Australian Government, their strategic relationship with Indonesia trumps Schapelle Corby's human rights every time. This was potentially disastrous for them. Enter the Australian media: ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), Seven Network, Nine Network, etc. Enter the press: Fairfax Media Limited (SMH - Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, etc), News Corporation (The Australian, The Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph, etc), and so on. Enter headline chasing, circulation seeking, cheque book journalism. Enter towing the government line. Enter distortion and smear. Enter the hiding of the truth, which you SAW for yourself in 2004/5. Meanwhile, Schapelle suffers. She lies clinically depressed in her tiny cell, with others, day after day, week after week, year after year. Along with the truth, she is being buried, not just by a corrupt and ruthless foreign regime, but by her own nation's media. This film provides an overview of the insidious media process. It outlines the methodology used, and the approach adopted to influence YOUR perception: to make you forget the facts - the facts you saw with your own eyes. Australia: open your eyes again. Recall what you actually saw, and recall what you know. See through the veneer which is being pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Differentiate the facts from the smear and innuendo which you have now been fed for years. Someone's life does actually depend upon it. NOTE The film was produced independently from the UK (yes: concern at what has happened to Schapelle, and the shameful media campaign, is international). Many months of detailed research and analysis were undertaken in making it. We won't walk away.... will you?
